On April 13, 1985, the Greensboro Fire Department faced a massive fire on S Davie Street. Several large textile warehouses caught fire, stressing on-duty crews to the max. They didn’t know it at the time, but after 40 years, this incident would still hold the record as the largest fire in the downtown district’s history.
